Little Tokyo is extremely close to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. It’s very easy to find transportation leading to Union Station.

There is convenient public transportation from both nearby airports to Union Station.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
Take the Union Station Flyaway Bus from LAX to Union Station. It leaves approximately every half-hour (Schedule: PDF). Cost is $7 each way.
Burbank Airport (BUR)
Get to Union Station from Burbank Airport by rail.
The Burbank Bob Hope Airport Station serves the Amtrak Surfliner and Metrolink Ventura County Lines. See Schedule
In addition, there is a free shuttle service between the airport and the Downtown Burbank Metrolink Station (Antelope Valley Line), and to the Metro Red Line (subway) North Hollywood Station. See the Burbank Airport Bus and Train Service page for more on catching these shuttles.
Metrolink/Amtrak trains are $6 each way. (see information about fares)
Metro Red Line (Subway): 1-way fare: $1.50 to Union Station. (Little Tokyo is about three long blocks from Union Station, or transfer to Gold Line and take 1 stop to Little Tokyo Station, another $1.50).
Union Station (interior)
Amtrak and Metrolink go to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, and the Metro Rail also serves Union Station and Little Tokyo.
The difference between Metrolink and Metro Rail:
- Metrolink is the regional train that runs from Ventura County, Antelope Valley, San Bernardino and Riverside County, Orange County and San Diego Count to Union Station in Los Angeles.
- Metro is the public transportation system in Los Angeles County. In addition to Metro Bus lines, it has light rail, called Metro Rail). The Metro Rail lines are named by color such as Red Line, Purple Line, Gold Line, Blue Line, Green Line. Both the Gold Line and Red and Purple Line trains go to Union Station.

The Gold Line stops in Little Tokyo at the Little Tokyo/Arts District station. (one stop south of Union Station)
The Red Line goes to Union Station
The Purple Line goes to Union Station
The Silver Line (yes, it’s a dedicated bus, not a train on rails) goes to Union Station.

Parking is available in various public parking lots around Little Tokyo. These lots are also marked on the Google Map for the conference.
Parking for DISKovery Center Computer Labs:
Early bird rates: Little Tokyo Public Parking 319 E. 2nd Street, early bird parking before 9:30 a.m. for $5. (walk north through little shops to get to 1st street; Diskovery Center is across the street near the Far East Cafe)
On 1st and Central (southeast corner lot) across from Japanese American National Museum, flat rate of $6.50.
City of Los Angeles Public Parking: entrance on Temple Street between Alameda and Judge Aiso/San Pedro, $8. (lot is behind Diskovery— as you walk away from Temple, veer to your left as you approach the buildings on 1st Street in order to reach the front of 1st.)
Parking for Workshops at Centenary United Methodist Church:
Free parking in lot next to the Church at 300 S. Central Avenue.
Parking on Sat and Sun:
Joe’s Parking, on San Pedro between 2nd and 3rd Street, west side of street, almost across the street from the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center. $4 on Sat and Sun.
Next to 340 2nd Street, between San Pedro and Central–ramp entry to a structure; $4 on Sat and Sun. After parking, walk to southwest corner of structure and descend to ground level; walk out gate. JACCC is the 5 story building across the plaza to your left.
Parking at The Miyako Hotel: Hours of operation 6 am – 3 am. From the hours between 3am and 6am, no parking attendant will be on duty.
$18.00 + 10% Tax for hotel registered guests. $2.00 each 20 min for visitors.
$3.00 up to 3 hours max with validation for Spa & Restaurant, after 3 hours,
$2.00 each 20 minutes. For late check out after 2pm, guest will be charged $2.00 each 20 minutes up to $18.00. Parking tax 10% will be added to the rates above.
Please note: self parking is still available however, the hotel will not validate
and in/out privileges are not available.
